A Personal Statement
Humor me, if you will, and read my thoughts on why I can be valuable to you (whoever you may be).
To whom it may concern,
You have found yourself at my site, and for that I'm grateful. The fact that you're here means you were willing, at least at one point, to consider giving me a chance.
A chance is all I'm asking for.
The reason I want so badly to work in the world of lighting design is because I believe it is simply magic.
It is a field predicated on illusive beauty, visual wonder, and ultimately the search for enchantment. The things a designer is able to accomplish on stage with the right resources and a proper vision are nothing short of astonishing to me, and I would give anything to learn as much as I can about it.
At heart, I am a storyteller. My years before stumbling into lighting design were spent writing, dancing, choreographing, and daydreaming. Sculpting worlds on stage and flooding them with light takes more than just a daydream, but I am willing to put in the work to make it a reality.
Despite what the nature of my dialogue on this particular website might suggest, once I step in the theater I take my work very seriously. Though years upon years of dance training has taught me both discipline and humility, it's also taught me that the one thing I can be proud of is my resilience.
I know I have the kind of dedication and creativity that would make me a valuable apprentice to any company or artistic team.
Your consideration would mean so much to me, and I eagerly await the chance to find out how much more I can learn from the strange and beautiful world of lighting design.
